What is the IMS?

The Instructional Media Studio (IMS) provides our faculty with the ease of one-button video recording to create custom course content. A 66-inch lightboard gives faculty the ability to diagram and demonstrate solutions including math equations and science formulas. The video, audio, and lighting are already in place, so no setup is needed. No video software or editing skills necessary.

Center for Academic Innovation staff are available to help you get started so you can worry less about the technology and more about developing your own content. The Instructional Media Studio is located in the Hamra Library on the Springfield Campus. OTC faculty can reserve recording times by selecting a one, two, or three-hour reservation found below.

How does it work?

The Revolution lightboard allows you to record video lectures through a transparent drawing service. Insert a USB thumb drive, press one button to start and stop recording, remove the thumb drive, and load your video to YouTube for sharing with your students. Here’s a short video on how it works.

How do I schedule?

Faculty can schedule for a one, two, or three-hour time slots. Schedule your session(s) using the calendar tool below.

Who can use it?

Any OTC faculty that is currently teaching or scheduled to teach an OTC course.

Where is it?

The studio is located on the Springfield campus, in the Information Commons building in Room 100D of the Hamra Library.

What can I do with it?

Record mini-lectures, tutorials, and other instructional videos that include the ability to write and draw on a transparent surface, replicating the in-classroom whiteboard experience for your students. You can also do PowerPoint overlays and voice-over recordings.
