About Us

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Center for Academic Innovation (CAI) at OTC. CAI serves as the college’s teaching and learning center providing faculty with resources and services to thrive. We serve all OTC faculty regardless of course modality, physical location, or career stage.

CAI’s mission is to foster academic innovation, collaboratively facilitate change, and promote educational development to advance teaching and learning. Our vision is for faculty to be empowered and equipped to promote student learning and success through innovation, collaboration, and educational development.

With the creation of CAI in August 2019, our services include:

  • Creative space for faculty experimentation and innovation
  • Collaborative and networking opportunities
  • Expanded programming and events
  • A virtual teaching and learning resource repository
  • Faculty professional development and recognition
  • Program development and curriculum design assistance
  • Instructional design services
  • Learning analytics
  • Canvas and instructional technology support

Of particular interest is “CAI:TALK”, a Teaching And Learning Knowledgebase, which serves as a centralized, virtual repository for teaching and learning resources. This collection will continue to grow, so please check back often.

Be sure to join “Teacher Talk”, housed in OTC’s Microsoft Teams, which serves as an inclusive community of practice for all OTC educators.  This virtual space is used to network, explore topics, and discuss all things teaching and learning with fellow faculty and peers.

At CAI, building relationships and collaboration are at the center of what we do.  By serving the entire college, we can connect you with the resources and information you need to improve your processes or create something new and innovative.  Our staff are here to provide you with the support, services, programming, and resources you need to enhance your professional growth and to further promote learning and success in your courses. If you have a question, we’ll find an answer.

CAI is your center, so please drop by for a visit any time.  We look forward to assisting you!

All the best,
Julie Coltharp, Ed.D.
