Engagement: Flashrounds

Examples

Example: Flashround – ART-101

What Is A Flashround?

It’s completely made up. It’s a term that was made up to describe a limited time offer on an extra credit activity. Flashrounds function sort of like pop-quizzes. They’re unexpected and they’re quick. The idea is simple. The instructor posts an announcement letting students know about an extra credit assignment which will only be available for a short period of time, 24-48 hours.

How Does It Engage Students?

Because flashrounds use announcements, they encourage students to build the habit of visiting the course and the announcement area often. Because students don’t know when a flashround will be available, they’re more apt to pay attention to the announcement notifications related to the course.
