Achievement: Delaying the Grade
Often when students receive a grade, they discontinue engagement with the assignment regardless of whether or not they’ve achieved the objectives of the assignment. Faculty are often frustrated when they take the time to provide feedback to students and it’s ignored.
Providing students with feedback to improve their work can be particularly helpful when combined with a delay in the grade. Of course, this means giving students a chance to utilize that feedback and resubmit their work. Not every instructor is comfortable with that. However, it can be a very effective way to improve student achievement.
