Unit Introductions
Wanna show off your own work? Need a second set of eyes to look over what you’ve done? |
Frontloading for Student Success
Frontload your students at the beginning of each instructional unit with pertinent information such as what the unit is about, how long it will last, and the concepts that will be covered. This will give your students a heads up as to what to expect in the days/weeks ahead so that they can adequately prepare.
You can also include reflective questions like, “What do I already know about these topics and how will this unit help build upon that knowledge?” and “How much time do I need to set aside each day/week to watch, read, and do my assignments?”
Your Voice Matters
Unit overview videos are a good way to connect with your students when you are not in the classroom. Being prepared to pivot means being prepared to not be in the physical classroom for the majority of instructional time. One way to prepare to pivot is with unit overview videos. These can be made ahead of time and embedded in Canvas. You’ll find that this is a good instructional practice no matter what modality you teach.
