Creating Student Engagement
Creating student engagement takes planning, work, and lots of effort. With the right strategies, tools, and planning it will become easier to engage students and encourage their participation and interactions.
In our last unit, we learned about active learning strategies that can facilitate authentic assessments in the classroom. That answered the question, “how do I know my students are learning?”.
Now we are going to learn how those active learning strategies build engagement and community in the classroom.
Now let’s answer this question, “how do I build engagement in the classroom?”
Building Engagement & Community in the Classroom
In this module, we are going to explore building engagement and community in the classroom and will equip you with the knowledge, skills, and tools to make genuine connections with your students and engage them in the concepts of the course materials.
As educators in our individual disciplines, we feel the burden to make our subject exciting for our students. We diligently try to communicate our material with passion and enthusiasm every day. We may often wonder why our students don’t love our topics as much as we do. (I mean, who doesn’t love math?!) We’re here to set you at ease that you are not alone. While we may have our differences, we can still all come together in the classroom. We will provide you with tools that will help you to make deeper connections with your students producing increased persistence and success.
