How You Might Use It
Replace/Supplement Announcements or Messages
Students are more likely to read a text message than look at Canvas. Using Remind helps redirect them back to Canvas and allows for informal communication that builds relationships with students. Quick and easy communication – text a question – get an answer. It’s not crowded like email so it’s less likely to get lost in the shuffle.

Quick Check-Ins
I love remind because it can be used for both seated and online classes. I always have my phone with me so it’s easy for a student to text me and say “had trouble finding a parking spot, be a few minutes late” or to have more direct communication with online students who may be missing work. Students are much more responsive to messages sent in Remind and it’s a great way to send them quick reminders about due dates.

Just In Time Student Help
I also use Remind for both seated and online classes. For math students, Remind provides an easy way for students and teachers to text screenshots of assignment questions or worked-out solutions. This is much quicker than via email! I also use Remind to text a copy of my weekly announcements. To get around the text limitation, I save the announcement as a PDF file and text out the file.
